The team quiz guide · Part 1 of 4

Why run a team quiz

A trivia quiz on a video call gets people who work together, but rarely meet, talking to each other. This guide is for you if you've never run one. It covers why it works, how to run it, how to write the questions and how kwizroom handles the scoring.

Your team gets to know each other

When your team is spread across locations, people can work together for months without ever having a real conversation. A quiz gives them a reason to.

Mix the teams on purpose. Put people from different places and different teams in the same breakout room. The quiz works as an ice-breaker, and the effect carries over into everyday work: people start talking to colleagues they didn't know before, and they learn what other teams actually do.

Everyone's strengths show up

Make the questions tough. However hard a question looks, someone on the team almost always knows the answer. Each person's knowledge counts, and the rest of the team gets to see it.

People learn about the company

Give one round over to the company itself: its acronyms, its work processes, the technologies it uses. It's a light way to teach people things they need for their work.
